Do you have a smartphone? Of course you do, it has virtually become an extension of our own human consciousness. Which is also fair for billions of people all over the world. Entire lives tied to a single piece of hardware - this is our reality, and in reality, you need to make money.

Fortunately, such a close simbiosis brings about new earning opportunities, including mVAS, or Mobile Value Added Services. Becoming the main means of payment, our smartphones effectively fill the role of a wallet with all the bank apps and virtual credit cards. But in many countries, these unnecessary steps are skipped, which makes it possible to charge payments directly from the user’s account at their mobile carrier.

There are lots of offer providers specializing in mVAS. The offers themselves can range from games or music to adult videos and dating, as well as everything in between. That’s where affiliates come in, with an important task of bringing subscribers into all these diverse services, for a reward, of course.

The mVAS vertical holds a truly huge potential for anyone ready to learn its rules and master the specifics, but the lack of open information prevents it from becoming as popular as other verticals, such as nutra or gambling. On the other hand, it is a good thing, because our partners get to experience pretty much an untapped source of income open to experiments and wild creativity.

There are two main types of offers:
  1. Non-billable - you get paid for a successful subscription to the service without the need for the user to pay.
  2. Billable - you get paid only after the user makes a payment.

mVAS Advantages

  1. Daily payouts. Yes, mVAS allows you to get payouts every single day if you wish to do so. This means that you can scale up your campaigns more efficiently.
  2. Wide range of GEOs. There is a wide selection of GEOs to work with: LATAM, MENA, EU, US, CIS, mVAS offers can work pretty much everywhere.
  3. Works with almost any type of traffic. Pop and Push traffic shows the best results, but there are also options for in-page, direct linking, interstitials, Google, Facebook, TikTok, etc.
  4. Lets you choose a comfortable flow. Every mVAS offer comes with its own flow, so that you could control how users interact with your ads.
  5. Ability to work without landing pages and pre-landers. In mVAS, you can skip pre-landers altogether and drive traffic directly to the LP, which saves time and increases the likelihood of a successful conversion.

What are Flows?

Let’s talk about flows, since it’s one of the most important things in the mVAS vertical. The type of flow determines the sequence of actions the user must perform in order to confirm a subscription to the service.

1Click. This is the most straightforward type of a flow, because all it takes for a user to subscribe is click a single button. The user then gets a notification and their subscription starts. 1Click flow is prevalent in Tier 3 GEOs due to the content regulations being more lax than in Tier 1 and 2 countries.

2Click. This flow requires more consent from the user by adding another layer before the subscription is activated. After clicking the initial CTA, the user gets to another landing page, where they’re asked to confirm the decision.

PIN Submit. With this flow, the user needs to fill in their phone number, receive a code via SMS and then paste it on the landing page to get access to the content.

Prefilled PIN submit (HE PIN submit). This flow is similar to PIN submit, with the only difference that the user’s phone number gets detected and filled in automatically. Most of the offers in the MENA countries have adopted this flow.

Premium SMS (Click2SMS, MT/MO). In this flow, the user clicks an ad and gets redirected to the default message app, where an SMS is already prepared to be sent to a specific phone number. After the user presses the send button, the subscription gets activated. Premium SMS flow is widely used in Asian countries and Eastern Europe.

USSD. Represented mostly in Kenya, the USSD flow implies going to a special landing page after clicking an ad. This page contains a panel with numbers, and the user needs to choose a specified one to confirm subscription.

How to start working with mVAS offers?

After learning the types of flows, you will be able to better understand different GEOs and how to approach them more effectively. While 1Click offers allow you to rake in more potential conversions, they can also become a problem if your traffic quality is not the best, which will result in misleads and complaints.

You can also start with PIN submit offers. Those are also quite newbie-friendly and work in Tier 3 countries, which are not too restrictive about traffic quality. Once you learn the ropes, you are free to make your campaigns more elaborate and try targeting Tier 2 and 1 GEOs.

Whichever you prefer, the affiliate managers at Golden Goose are always there to help and guide you towards high-converting campaigns. And you can always ask fellow affiliates on our forums.
